Madeira

Madeira is a Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean, northwest of Africa. It is known for its stunning scenery of mountains, forests and beaches.

The capital of the island is Funchal and it is also home to the international airport. Funchal is a lively city with numerous museums, theaters and shopping streets. One of the attractions of the city is the botanical garden Jardim Botânico, known for its exotic plants.

Another well-known place in Madeira is the resort of Calheta in the southwest of the island. It is known for its long sandy beaches and crystal clear water, which invites you to swim and do water sports. Also near Calheta is the Parque Natural da Madeira, a natural park known for its dense laurel forests.

Madeira is also known for its festivals and events. In January the International Music Festival "Festa da Música" takes place and in February the Funchal Carnival. The "Festa da Cultura" arts festival in September is also a popular event on the island.

All in all, Madeira offers a variety of activities and sights that are suitable for both beach and culture holidaymakers. So if you want to spend a relaxing holiday by the sea, Madeira is the place for you.
